While we’d love for everyone to hand wash their Blushproof® period panties, we understand it’s not always convenient. That’s why we’ve designed them to be easy to care for.

Follow these simple steps to keep your Blushproofs in top condition:

1. Rinse First: Give your period panties a rinse under running water until the water runs clear.
2. Use a Mesh Laundry Bag: Place them in a mesh laundry bag for extra protection before machine washing.
3. Machine Wash on Gentle: Wash with similar colours using and a gentle detergent.

Important Care Tips:

• No fabric softener: It stops the wicking layer from absorbing your flow by creating a film on top of the pad.
• No bleach: It can damage the protective layers.
• No tumble dryer or iron: Air-drying is best to preserve the quality.

First Wash Reminder

• Don’t forget to wash your Blushproofs before their first use. The fabric is uniquely designed to perform better after the initial wash, maximising its absorbent capabilities.
• By following these care instructions, your Blushproof® period panties will stay durable, effective, and ready to support you cycle after cycle.

There isn’t a one-size-fits-all answer, as everyone’s flow is different. On average, most people experience the heaviest flow on days 2 and 3, so heavier absorption pairs or more frequent changes may be needed on these days. Some customers can manage with just 3 pairs for their entire cycle, washing them after each use (especially the quicker-drying nylon fabric ones), whilst others may need to change every 2-4 hours due to a heavier flow.

We recommend testing your Blushproof® period panties at home in a comfortable setting to see what works best for you. But to answer the question- having at least 3 pairs is a good starting point!

The SILVADUR™ treatment in the wicking fabric helps prevent odours, so you don't have to worry about smell. If you're concerned, a quick cold rinse will do the trick. Avoid using vinegar, Soda Ash or Soda crystals, as these can affect the leakproof layer. For a natural option, we recommend SoPure's Lingerie Laundry wash, a locally made product that’s perfect for keeping your Blushproof® panties fresh and in top condition.

Blushproof® period underwear is designed primarily for menstrual flow but can also be used for light bladder leaks. However, they are not yet suitable for managing full incontinence. This is because the absorbency needs and properties of urine differ from those of menstrual blood, including differences in smell and viscosity.

Providing a sustainable and dignified alternative to disposable adult diapers is a long-term goal for Blushproof®. Our team is constantly researching and innovating to create solutions for those with more significant bladder leaks. While we’re not there yet, it’s a challenge we’re committed to overcoming.

Period underwear needs to fit perfectly to provide effective leak protection. That’s why Blushproof® offers exchanges, even for what is essentially intimate apparel. A proper fit ensures maximum comfort and confidence during your cycle.

We recommend trying on your Blushproof® period panties over regular underwear to check the size as soon as they arrive. If the fit isn’t quite right - whether too small or too big - we’re happy to facilitate an exchange. We understand that period panties are an investment, and we want you to feel confident in your purchase.

Exchanges are only available for unworn items, and courier fees will apply. This helps us maintain sustainable business practices while offering flexibility to our customers.

Requesting an exchange for your Blushproof® period underwear is simple and convenient. We’ve created an exchange portal where you can enter your order number and email address to start the process. Exchanges must be requested within 30 days of receiving your Blushproof® items.

We offer three exchange options to suit your needs:

1. Return via your courier: Send the items back using a courier of your choice, and we’ll arrange to send the new items to you (R100 courier fee).
2. Full courier service: We’ll collect the returned items and deliver your new ones (R200 courier fee).
3. In-person exchange: Visit our Craighall workshop to return your items and collect your replacements on the spot (no charge).
