HOW IT STARTED...
Blushproof® was founded in 2020, inspired by a mother’s desire to provide better menstrual care for her tween daughter. Witnessing the environmental impact of traditional period products - 14,000 pads and tampons per person, all ending in landfills - I realised there was a lack of affordable, sustainable options in South Africa.
This sparked the creation of Blushproof®, a brand focused on offering eco-friendly, reliable period solutions that are both functional and kind to the planet.
With a commitment to sustainable menstrual care, Blushproof® quickly grew from a small home office into a proud South African brand, dedicated to providing better alternatives to traditional products.
BREAKING TABOOS
Periods and bladder leaks have been stigmatised in South Africa for too long. At Blushproof®, we offer sustainable, toxin-free period solutions for all body types.
Our mission is to:
- Reduce landfill waste with reusable cloth pads and absorbent period panties.
- Promote plastic-free alternatives for body-safe menstrual care.
- Support education by donating period packs through our Charity Program.
With over 4 million South African learners lacking period products, Blushproof® is creating a future where no one has to miss school due to their cycle.
WHERE WE ARE NOW...
Today, Blushproof® operates from a dedicated workshop in Johannesburg, employing a passionate team of eight. We’ve sold over 10,000 pairs of period panties, with glowing 5-star reviews from customers across the country. Our products now include swimwear and a range of sizes and colours designed for every body and every lifestyle.
